Friends of Qu Ming and Wu Ying also released a short film Thursday, produced by Joan He, called "City of Dreams" to commemorate their lives.
On the film's Facebook page, the creators say they hope the film will remind students "to fight on and never give up on their dreams."

Their murders sparked an outcry over safety around USC's urban campus. two men, Bryan Barnes and Javier Bolden, have been charged with their murders.
Since the killings, USC has added security measures and paid for increased police patrols.
