Opening Day Energizes Baseball Fans
The Los Angeles Dodgers will step up to bat against the 2012 World Series Champions, the San Francisco Giants, Monday afternoon at Dodger Stadium.
Fans are anxious for their 2013 MLB season to start at 1 p.m. and are watching closely to see which players will stand out.
Giants fan, Aaron Soskin, 21, expects Brandon Belt, Buster Posey and Pablo Sandoval to come back even stronger in 2013.
"[The Giants] made some big moves in the off-season," said the USC sophomore. "They have a solid line-up that will complement their rotation."
Dodger fan, Kimberly Barnhill, has her eye on Andre Ethier.
"He signed two balls for me at Spring Training last season," said the 20-year-old. "I always love watching him play."
Junior Corey Chang says he will miss sporting his Giants' "orange and black world series champ shirt" at Dodger Stadium this year while he studies abroad in South Africa.
Even abroad, Chang he will be watching the pitching staff Matt Cain, Madison Bumgarner, Tim Lincecum and Buster Posey because they will carry the season.
"I'll be paying attention to veterans Angel Pagan and Marco Scutaro, the two veterans who the team signed to big contracts," said Chang. "[I] will be betting on a repeat of their arguably overachieving performances last year.
Monday marks the first game after the stadium's $100 million improvements.
Dodger Stadium upgraded to high-definition video boards in both the right and left field and also expanded restrooms. The renovation also included more wheelchair accessibility on the loge, reserve and top deck levels.
"I'm going to tomorrow's game to watch a Giants victory," said Soskin.
