Three New Suspects Arrested in Boston

Two of the three suspects were reportedly friends with the younger Tsarnaev brother.

Three new suspects have been arrested in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings.

According to the Boston Police Department, two of the three new suspects were friends with Dzhokhar Tsarnaev at the University of Massachusetts Darthmouth.

The two suspects are Azamat Tazhayakov and Dias Kadyrbayev. Both of them are originally from Kazakhstan. The two have been held in a county jail for more than a week for visa violations.

Boston police made the announcement via Twitter Wednesday morning, saying more details would follow. Police spokeswoman Cheryl Fiandaca confirmed the tweet but referred all other questions to the FBI.

The officials who confirmed their custody spoke to the Associated Press Wednesday under condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk about the investigation.

One of the officials said the third suspect was a man.

Three people were killed and more than 260 injured on April 15 when two bombs detonated near the finish line of the Boston marathon.

One of the main suspects Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed in a gunfight with police. His younger brother and second suspect, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, was captured hours after his brother's death and is currently in police custody.
