Cesar Chavez Mural Unveiled
Bell Gardens, CA --

Fernando Chavez, the eldest son of Cesar Chavez, attended a a mural unveiling ceremony Monday held at Cesar Chavez Elementary School.
Artist Simon Silva and a group of schoolchildren created the mural to celebrate the life of teacher Jose Guajardo following his death.
Chavez said the mural was Guajardo's way of encouraging people to give back to the community.
The school's principal, Norma Velasco-Aceves, who was able to meet Senior Chavez while in college, was proud of the mural.
"For me, it has a lot of meaning because just meeting his son, Fernando, allows for [the legacy] to continue," she said.
Fernando Chavez is currently on the board of directors of the school's After-School All-Star in Los Angeles.
