Father Killed After Responding To Craigslist Ad

This murder ended Los Angeles' longest no-homicide streak since 2010.

Police are still looking for two men who killed a father and wounded his son in South Los Angeles after they responded to a Craigslist posting for a cellphone.

Rene Balbuena, 41, and his 15-year-old son were waiting in their car on 92nd Street and Gramercy Place when two men, believed to have posted the Craigslist ad, approached the car and demanded money, according to police.

Balbuena was shot three times in his torso after he got out of the car and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

His son was treated for a graze wound.

One USC junior, Christina Ramsey, said after this incident, she won't be using Craigslist anymore.

Police urge anyone with information regarding this attack to call LAPD at (213) 485-1383.
