They're called the Midnight Runners and are based out of Midnight Mission, an organization that gives homeless men a place to stay while trying to become sober.

The crew has been running together for more than a year and meets two or three times a week at 6 a.m. for a group run.

Most of the runners live at the Midnight Mission shelter and some have moved out after completing the mission's recovery program. For many of the members, the group is a way to improve their physical strength as well as health and fitness.

Private donors funded the trip to Ghana along with fundraising hosted by the Mission.
