Resources Fair Helps Veterans Find Work

Companies and service providers were in Van Nuys Thursday for the Honor A Hero/Hire A Veteran job and resource fair.

Representatives from more than 70 companies showed up to recruit men and women who have served the armed forces.

Workshops on resume-writing and the labor market were offered, as well as free private mental health counseling.

The fair comes as employment figures for veterans are improving. According to the Dept. of Labor, unemployment for veterans has gone from a high of 12.1 percent down to 9.9.
