LGBT Discrimination Bill Going to U.S. Senate

The act would make it illegal for employers to discriminate based on sexual orientation or gender identity.

U.S. Senate majority leader Harry Reid announced Tuesday that the Senate will vote on the Employment Non-Discrimination Act before Thanksgiving.

The act would ban workplace discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity.

The bill has gotten 54 co-sponsors since it was first introduced in April.

While some conservative groups have expressed concern about the act, the USC LGBT Resource Center has endorsed the bill.
