Assemblyman's Father Found Dead

Joseph Gatto was found dead in his home at about 8 p.m. by his daughter on the 2800 block of Bright Lane, according to the LAPD.

Gatto's house was ransacked and he was found slumped over a desk chair. Police are investigating the case as a possible home invasion.

No arrests have been made.

Mike Gatto's spokesman Justin Hager said, "The Assemblyman learned of his death by phone in Sacramento. He is absolutely 'devastated.'"

Joseph Gatto was a retired art teacher and jewelry craftsman.
