SCALE Protest

USC SCALE stages "die-in" to protest unfair working conditions where they say Trojan apparel is being made.

Members of USC Student Coalition Against Labor Exploitation (SCALE) staged a "die-in" on campus Thursday to honor the more than 1,000 workers who died in a Bangladesh garment factory in April.

SCALE members marched to President Nikias' office after the demonstration to deliver a letter with their demands, which included a code of conduct that all Trojan apparel licensees must sign on to to ensure no USC merchandise is made in sweatshop conditions.

Campus police were called to the scene to break up the gathering outside the president's office. No citations or charges were filed against the students. President Nikias had no comment about the incident.
