Workers Strike at UC Hospitals
Employees at University of California medical centers across the state protested Wednesday after allegedly facing harassment and intimidation from administrators.
Protestors say UC hospital management intentionally taunted staff members who participated in a two-day strike advocating safe staffing routines in May.
The one-day strike was launched by Local 3299 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees representing over 20,000 patient care and service employees.
Protestors staged walkouts at UC hopsitals in San Francisco, San Diego, Davis, Irvine and Los Angeles.
Workers and administrators have faced disagreements over staffing, wages, pensions and healthcare benefits since the walkout in May.
