USC Basketball Welcomes Three New Recruits
USC men's basketball welcomes the first recruiting class under the direction of head coach Andy Enfield. USC officially announced the signing of 4-star point guard Jordan McLaughlin, 3-star center Jabari Craig and four-star power forward Malik Price-Martin.
McLaughlin took to twitter to spread the news tweeting "Feels good to officially be a Trojan #USC #FightOn". McLaughlin is a 4-star recruit and is said to be the top point guard in the West coast. The 5-foot-11 point guard comes out of Etiwanda High School and was recruited by 13 different schools.
He took visits to USC and Kansas and was being chased by top schools including Louisville and UCLA. During his high school career he played in 86 games averaging 12.7 points. His tenacious defense and athleticism played a key factor in Etiwanda Southern Section Division 1AA Championship last year.
McLaughlin's quickness and mean cross-over is a perfect fit for Enfield's plan of playing at a fast tempo. Enfield's "Dunk City" ways at Florida Gulf Coast makes McLaughlin's raw athleticism a perfect fit at USC.
The Trojans also landed a very athletic center in Craig. Craig was highly sought after by more than 10 schools including Arizona State, UCLA and Clemson. His elite athleticism and ability to play defense will go a long way at USC.
He took to instagram to spread the good news. Craig posted a photo saying, "I have officially just sign the NLI, and proud to say I'm going to USC, University of Southern California and become part of the Trojan Family!! #FightOn."
During his high school career Craig averaged 8.5 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.1 blocks. Craig's height will also play a big role in "Dunk City", and will be utilize during alley-oops.
Price-Martin is a 4-star player with raw talent and long arms from Faith Baptist Christian School. He has great instincts for tracking down rebounds and good at attacking the paint.
He took to twitter to spread the good news tweeting out, "One of the proudest days of my life signing my NOL can't wait to start a new chapter in my life #Blessed."
The 6-9 power forward was highly sought after as well, before finally choosing USC. He was one of the first 2014 commits for Enfield. He ranked as the 70th best prospect on 247sports.com and 87th on the Rivals 150.
Price-Martin has a lof of versatility offensively and has a very good shot from mid-range. His 7-foot wing span is something USC coaches look to utilize on both sides of the ball. Alongside Craig, both players have the opportunity to become excellent shot blockers.
All three players bring distinct assets to the team, and is sure to play a big role in bringing back excitement to USC basketball.
