UCLA's People-Animal Connection program has been bringing dogs to visit children for over a decade. The dogs make visits throughout the year, and this week they delivered handmade Valentine's cards to patients.
The handmade cards were made by the Dollies Making a Difference, an organization that brings dolls to patients and other gifts during the holidays.
Erin Rice, who works for the program with her dog, says she has rewarding experiences every day.
"I've seen a patient wake up from a coma," Rice said. "You know, we see all kinds of little things that happen from putting something furry and warm with unconditional love in the bed with them."
