New L.A. Area Anti-Human Trafficking Campaign
City and county officials, including Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, met to discuss an anti-human trafficking campaign on Monday. The project aims to enforce a bill that was orginally passed in 2012, requiring businesses to display information on how to report human trafficking, including hotline numbers.
However, some businesses have not followed through with the original posting requirements, leaving human rights advocates frustrated. The National Council of Jewish Women/L.A. is now funding printing costs of anti-human trafficking posters that advocates will hand out to businesses in Los Angeles through outreach programs.
