L.A. Students Shadow LAX Employees for 'Job Shadow Day'
More than 100 high school and middle school students in the Los Angeles area received the opportunity to attend "Job Shadow Day" at the Los Angeles International Airport.
Students from various schools were able to learn about careers in the field of accounting, airfield operations, aviation law enforcement, fire fighting, and business administration.
"An event like Job Shadow Day gives students a chance to relate the airplane in the air with a job, a career, or a future," said LAX spokesman Harold Johnson.
Johnson also expressed that students attending the event would gain a real-world learning experience that can be integrated with the knowledge they gain in a classroom setting.
Students broke into small groups and learned about various careers that piqued their interest.
Gregory Philips, a teacher attending the event said, "You can actually see the airport tower from our school and I think students generally think of aviation careers."
