Secretary of Homeland Security Visits LAX
The Department of Homeland Security began a two-day tour of LAX to review the airport's safety procedures.
Department Secretary Jeh Johnson toured the complex to examine the safety procedures.
Earlier this week, the department warned of a possible terrorist threat associated with international flights coming into the United States.
Officials released reports of a possible terrorist plot to hide explosives in shoes.
Johnson did not address the warning directly, but said, "Every once in a while we update our advisories, we modify our procedures so that we remain vigilant in dealing with the various potential threats that exist."
He also said that despite the shooting that took place at LAX on last November and left one officer dead, Johnson did not think TSA officials should carry firearms.
Johnson will continue his tour Friday with a meeting with L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti, U.S. Coast Guard officers and Customs and Border Protection officials.
