UPDATE: Truce Broken in Ukraine

In an effort to end the violence, Ukraine's protest leaders and President Viktor Yanukovych agreed to negotiate.

Ukraine's protest leaders and President Viktor Yanukovych called a truce Wednesday in an effort to end the violence

At least 26 people were dead and more than 400 people were injured during the protests in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine.

Some of the dead and injured were hit by bricks or shrapnel from grenades, while others were struck or burned by sprays of bullets.

Tuesday marked the deadliest day in the recent rounds of protests. Violent clashes continued into the night.

People around the world expressed their concerns about the people in Ukraine.

Aliona Melnyk is a Ukrainian journalist. She said she's unable to get into the city of Maidan.

Dave Lafontaine is a USC professor who taught abroad in Ukraine. He was Melnyk's teacher and was there in November, when the protests first started in Maidan.

Father Oleh Saciuk is a priest at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
