Women's Water Polo Claim Triton Crown
The No. 1 USC women's water polo team competed in the Triton Invitational in San Diego, which is their first tournament of the season. The defending national champions started off their 2014 campaign with four big wins.
The Women of Troy dominated the pool on Saturday defeating Sonoma State and Northridge by a combined 37 goals. On Sunday the Women of Troy faced Arizona State, and came out victorious winning 10-4. They followed that win with an 8-3 victory over UC Irvine.
USC's victories on Sunday allowed them to claim the Triton crown. USC was led by Monica Vavic and Eike Daube who combined for six goals on Sunday. Goalie Flora Bolonyai had 21 saves.
The top-ranked Women of Troy will travel to Riverside for a competition at the Lancer Invitational on Feb. 14-15.
