Government Extends Obamacare Deadline
The Obama administration announced Wednesday it will give people applying for health insurance coverage an extension beyond the March 31 deadline.
As it stands, March 31 is the deadline for people to enroll in the Affordable Care Act or face penalties for not having healthcare.
Those who already have healthcare will not be penalized for not applying for health insurance through the federal marketplace.
Applicants who encounter difficulty when applying over the phone or online will be given an extension after attesting to their circumstances in the application. Administration officials haven't announced a specific duration of the extension.
This extension comes months after the January 1 deadline was extended to accommodate people having difficulty applying, following a website crash.
