Downtown Living Less Affordable as Housing Prices Rise
The price of a Downton L.A. condo rose six percent last March. Wednesday's City Council Housing Committee discused the issue of rising housing prices.
More than half of all Los Angeles residents are renters. That's more than anywhere else in the country.
According to a study by LA Curbed, in order to afford a two bedroom apartment, a renter either has to make at least 27 dollars per hour or find a roomate.
USC Senior Zoe Steinberg is graduating in May. She said having her own place in Downtown would be too expensive.
"To live by myself would probably be between 1650-2000 to have a small studio apartment," said Steinberg.
