Fallen LAPD Motorcycle Officer Honored

Family, friends and police officers gathered in Downtown LA to say a final goodbye to LAPD Officer Chris Cortijo.

Police Chief Charlie Beck, Mayor Eric Garcetti and Cortijo's family spoke fondly of the officer during the funera..

Cortijo had spent more than half his life working for the LAPD. He was stopped at a red light on his motorcycle when he was hit by an SUV in early April.

Authorities say the driver was under the influence of cocaine at the time of the accident.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving plans to honor Cortijo with a California Hero Award next month.
