Gov. Officials and Former Players Respond to NBA Ban

LA Mayor Eric Garcetti, Sacramento Mayor and former NBA player Kevin Johnson, and Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul Jabbar spoke out about Sterling's lifetime ban and fine.

The Clippers organization, former NBA player and current Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson showed their support for NBA Commissioner Adam Silver's decision to ban and fine Donald Sterling Tuesday.

Johnson said Silver's quick actions helped both the league and the players.

The NBA Board of Governors may force Sterling to sell the team. Magic Johnson is rumored to be a potential buyer.

Los Angeles Lakers legend Kareem Abdul Jabbar also weighed in on the decision saying it's a great new day for the city of LA.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said the city needs to come together to condemn this behavior.

The LA City Council unanimously approved a motion Tuesday denouncing Sterling's statements. The vote comes after Councilmember Bernard Parks asked the city to take an official stand.

The City Council demanded an apology from Sterling. Governor Brown also applauded the NBA's decision.
