Cardiac Arrest Survivor Reunites with Rescuers
First-time L.A. Marathon runner Jode Lebeda just wanted to check something off his bucket list when his heart stopped during the race. On Monday, Lebeda met his heroes from the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Doctors said Lebeda collapsed from a heart attack induced by heat. This year's marathon had the hottest day on record for the race with temperatures hitting 81 degrees.
Firefighters say the "chain of survival" helped save the runner's life, starting with volunteer doctors and nurses on the sidelines who performed CPR.
Wonderful story, we all need to learn CPR. Thanks for the lesson.
