President Obama Takes Aim at Gender Pay Gap

Obama signed two executive orders addressing the gender wage gap in federal offices.

Republicans and Democrats squared off on the issue of gender equality in the workforce Tuesday.

President Obama spoke on the issue in Washington and advocated for equal pay. He signed two executive orders addressing the gender wage gap in federal offices, but Republican Majority Leader Eric Cantor said the issue goes beyond politics.

A few workers in Los Angeles said the government needs to address the pay gap. They asked for equal pay regardless of gender.

The Senate is expected to vote on the legislation Wednesday. If passed, the order would prevent contractors from retaliating against employees who discuss their compensation.
