2014 NFL Draft: USC WR Marqise Lee

Former USC wide receiver Marqise Lee was selected as the 39th overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars on day two of the 2014 NFL Draft.

USC saw 21 Trojans declare for the 2014 NFL Draft including top players like wide receiver Marqise Lee. Lee was one of the few that received an invitation to attend the draft at Radio City Music Hall in New York.

Still, despite not being drafted in the first round Lee was in good spirits at the start of day two of the NFL Draft.

"[Day 1] was very stressful," said Lee. "[But] I'm going to be happy wherever I go."

Lee patiently waited and was finally selected as the 39th overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars on day two.

"I'm ready to get started," said Lee after being drafted in the second round. "[It's a] sense of relief, but then it's motivation at the same time."

NFL analyst Mike Mayock originally projected Lee as the 23rd overall pick by the Kansas City Chiefs, and listed him as the third best wideout in the draft.

Many were surprised that Lee slipped past the first round, but the Jaguars GM was very pleased to still see Lee on the board.

"We're fortunate to have him," said Jaguars GM David Caldwell.

As the Trojans No. 1 receiver, Lee capped off his career at USC being the only Biletnikoff award winner, which is presented to the nation's top receiver.

After three years with the Trojans, Lee finished his career with 3,655 receiving yards and 29 touchdowns.

During his career, Lee posted a pair of 1,000-yard receiving seasons that ties a USC school record. In 2012, he led the Pac-12 in receiving yards, all-purpose yards and kick-off returns.

Lee becomes the 13th USC wideout drafted since 2000 as he joins former teammate Robert Woods in the NFL. After the pick was announced Woods took to twitter to congratulate his teammate.

"Congrats to @TeamLee1 by getting picked to Jax! Do work brodie," tweeted Woods.

Woods wasn't the only one to congratulate Lee. USC quarterback Cody Kessler also expressed congratulations via twitter.

"Congrats to my boy @TeamLee1 tear it up bro. Gonna do big things!" tweeted Kessler.
