What We Know About the Missing USC Student
USC held a news conference Friday about the ongoing investigation of the medical student who went missing in August.
Derek Seehausen, 26, was last seen on Aug. 5th of 2014. Surveillance footage shows him alone around midnight, walking north on Alvarado Street. Seehausen made a $200 withdrawal from an ATM earlier that night. The cash and his California driver’s license were the only items on Seehausen when he disappeared.
On Sept. 5, one month after the disappearance, police found surveillance footage showing a man similar to Derek’s description on a Metro bus. Five days later, someone tipped off the LAPD about a man matching Derek’s profile shuffling on the Pacific Coast Highway. Neither sighting has been confirmed, but after hearing of the sightings, Derek’s mother, Jean Gadra, traveled to USC to encourage the public to keep searching.
Derek, who is six feet tall with brown hair and hazel eyes, was last seen wearing a black hoodie, maroon shirt, and tan shorts. Derek has a scar on his right arm. Anyone with information is asked to call the Adult Missing Person Unit at (213)-996-1800. Facts and updates can be found at helpfindderek.com or on the Help Find Derek Seehausen page on Facebook.
