Parents, Students Call for LAUSD Student Scheduling Investigation
The Los Angeles Unified School District held an open meeting Tuesday about their new information system, My Integrated Student Information System (MISIS).
MISIS is an electronic system for the school district, allowing teachers to input attendance and grades and also allowing families to access student transcripts online.
MISIS had a troubled rollout. Issues ranged from losing over 45,000 student transcripts to computer glitches that left L.A. students and parents disgruntled.
Student Anita Parker said she had to go to her third-choice college because LAUSD had issues with getting her transcripts to her on time.
At the open meeting, families and educators met with the LAUSD council to voice their concerns with the new program.
LAUSD claims that MISIS transcript issues have been resolved, citing their corrected summer school reports and accurate course listings. They are still addressing issues with transcripts that can't be accessed after a student leaves the school and a lack of shown credits for community college courses.
According to LAUSD, this open meeting was part of an evolving process in getting this newly implemented program up to speed.
