ATVN Exclusive: April Ross
Former USC alumna and Olympic silver medalist April Ross spoke to ATVN's Alyssa Nakamoto about her experiences playing in the Olympics, competing on the AVP tour and her time as a student at USC. Ross and her partner Jennifer Kessey advanced to the finals of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England before being defeated by another USA duo in Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh.
The Costa Mesa, California native credits her victory over Brazil in the 2012 semifinal as one of her greatest accomplishments and addresses the thrill of capturing an Olympic medal. Ross is now teamed up with Walsh-Jennings on the AVP tour and the two plan to play together during the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janerio, Brazil.
While at USC, Ross claimed two NCAA titles as a member of the Women of Troy, as well as earning two All-American honors during her junior and senior seasons. She spoke of head coach Mick Haley's drive that taught her to never underestimate an opponent, a lesson she has transferred from the college to international competition.
