Students and Faculty Welcome Change at Annenberg
USC students, faculty and staff at the Annenberg School for Journalism and Communication are excited for everything the new Wallis Annenberg Hall has to offer.
The official grand opening for the state-of-the-art new building was celebrated on Wednesday but classes have been in session since the semester started in late August.
Wallis Annenberg Hall offers extensive state of the art facilities featuring new classroom layouts with removable walls, moving tables, and large projector screens.
“So much technology that allows you to bring in skype interviews from around the world,” said USC professor Gabe Khan.
The classroom atmosphere encourages collaboration and many professors say the new building allows them to expand their teaching horizons.
“As we work together or work with our students we have the real possibility for the first time to truly collaborate,” said USC professor Dan Birman.
The building also features student lounges along with conference rooms and working areas that students have easy access to.
The new building encourages collaboration between students, especially in the new Media Center, which is centrally located on the first floor of the new building. The media center allows students working at Annenberg Television News, Neon Tommy, Annenberg Radio News and Public Relations students to collaborate together in a shared space.
Students thanked Wallis Annenberg for her generous donation with a video dedicated to her:
Another Annenberg professor says, "The new building is a game changer for all of us. We have at our fingertips the newest and greatest technology in journalism.”
