Witnesses Testify in Bolden Trial
Javier Bolden and his friend Brian Barnes are accused of killing two Chinese USC grad students, Ying Wu and Ming Qu, both 23, as they waited in a parked car in a neighborhood near university park campus.
Bolden boasted about the killings while in jail, according to a recording played in court last Thursday made by a fellow inmate working as a police informant. "Boom, boom, and then that was it," Bolden said on the recording.
Bolden's trial continued Tuesday.
Stefan Bowe was the first witness called to the stand. He works for the prepaid phone company that Bolden was caught bragging about the murders on.
The defense asked Bowe if he could confirm that Bolden was the one who purchased minutes on the phone. He answered that he could not confirm that as their company doesn’t ask for identity when purchasing minutes.
Marissa Biraimah, a firearms analyst with the police department, was the second witness. She said a semi-automatic pistol was used in the killings.
