Police Incident on Figueroa

According to an LAPD Public Information Officer, a driver on Figueroa St. and McCathy Way was arrested Thursday afternoon after failing to cooperate with police attempting to pull him over. The PIO says several police officers had to box the car in to force it to stop. Police used a beanbag gun to attract the driver's attention. The driver, who has not been identified, was eventually handcuffed and taken away in an ambulance.

According to the PIO, paramedics treated the driver for possible alcohol or narcotics use. One student eating at The Lab told ATVN his waitress urged patrons to stay inside the restaurant.

Following the incident, the USC Department of Public Safety notification service announced:

"The police related incident at Figueroa St. and McCarthy way has been resolved. The area is now safe and university operations have returned to normal. Thank you for your cooperation."
