Los Angeles Dodgers Celebrate Veterans Day
The Los Angeles Dodgers celebrated Veterans Day by hosting batting practice for active servicemen and women and veterans on Tuesday at Dodger Stadium.
The pre-selected 300 active duty service members were made up of the Navy, Army, Marine Corp, Air Force and Coast Guard, as well as veterans and their families. Even though baseball season is over, the team hosted the practice for men and women to participate in.
They were offered free Dodger Dogs and beer, and Dodgers special advisor Donald Newcombe was out and about taking pictures and signing autographs. Dodger alumni Wes Parker, Al Downing and Bill Ashley were also there to welcome the veterans.
Dodger CEO and President Stan Kasten welcomed the group, and said, "The Dodgers are dedicated to paying tribute to those who selflessly serve our country year-round, and we are grateful to each and every one of them for their service."
Other teams, like the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox and Texas Rangers also hosted their own Veterans Day celebrations.
