Tommy's Bike Repair Is Open for Business

One USC senior capitalized on the University Village bike shop closing by opening up his own repair store near campus. ATVN's Mark Love has more on the student-owned shop.

This semester students do not have to go far to get their bikes fixed.

Tommy's Bike Repair is located at the front of the United University Church, and offers repair services for brakes, tires, chains, and a number of other bike accessories students may need.

The owner, Micah Greenberg, is a USC alum and says that he does not worry about competition from other bike repair shops in the area. With the bike repair shop formerly located in the University Village shutting down, Greenberg is sure he is offering students an easy and convenient alternative.

Students are responding well to the new bike shop that is walking distance from campus.

"It's really wonderful. If you're on a college campus, especially one in Los Angeles," says Mackenzie French, "you're going to want to have something in walking distance because you can't bike there if your bike is broken down." She said that because it is so difficult and inconvenient to have a car in LA, having a bike is the next best alternative.
