USC No Longer Top U.S. School for International Students

USC is no longer the top college for international students, according to a new report released by the Institute of International Education and the U.S. Department of Education. New York University has stolen the title, placing USC in second for the first time in 13 years.
NYU enrolled 11,000 international students in the last academic year, while USC only enrolled 10,900 students from outside the country, according to a survey of U.S. colleges. Other California colleges followed in the ranks, with UCLA in the sixth spot and UC Berkley at 18th.
Nationwide, the number of international students attending colleges and universities in the U.S. stands at about 886,000, an 8 percent increase from last year. Internationally, China has sent about 247,000 students, the largest of any other country. International students make up about 4 percent of undergraduates and graduates in the U.S.
Despite the recent killing of a USC Chinese graduate student and the deaths of two other graduate students, Chinese enrollment has increased at the university. According to USC statistics, enrollment of Chinese students grew more than 20 percent in the 2013-14 academic year compared to the previous one.
Sixteen percent of NYU's incoming class for the 2014-15 school year were international students, according to an NYU admissions representative.
