Protests Over Police Brutality Come to Campus
Students organized protests on campus after the two grand jury decisions not to indict the police officers responsible for the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner.
Law student and U-S Army Captain Lauryn Riley got together with friends and decided that even though its finals season, something had to be done to spread awareness. They organized a Die-In-to-Wake-Up protest before the Iggy Azalea concert on campus. Riley said it would be the perfect time to reach different crowds of people.
She says students will speak and then fall to the ground one-by-one to mimic the lives taken by police brutality.
"We really need to stop allowing them to be shielded by their badge," Riley says.
Another campus protest had speakers from the community sharing thoughts and ideas.
