City Attorney Files Nuisance Lawsuit Against South L.A. Home
Los Angeles may be cleaning up a bit, thanks to City Attorney Mike Feuer. Feuer’s office has filed two nuisance abatement lawsuits Tuesday against properties with a history of drugs and violence.
One of the properties is in South LA, near 52nd Street and Normandie. Only three blocks away from an elementary school, this house endangers the safety of the entire neighborhood, according to Feuer.
“That residence has allegedly been known as a free-for-all for the sale of PCP, presence of weapons and for the presence of known gang members again and again,” said Feuer.
In the past year alone, at least nine incidents have occurred at the South LA property that involved PCP or weapons, according to the lawsuit.
The lawsuit against has been filed against Mattie J. Sampson and her adult son Bobby J. Sampson.
Specifics of the civil abatement action include an injunction, which would tightly restrict who may be on the property, including Bobby J. Sampson, a known street gang member in the community, according to the lawsuit.
“We want to send a real strong message to wrong-doers, wherever they may be, that it’s not going to be tolerated anymore,” said Curren Price, LA City Councilmember. “We’re going to come after you strong and hard.”
