No. 9 USC Captures Pivotal 5-Set Wins
The No. 9 USC men's volleyball team (14-7, 12-6) solidified a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation playoff spot after securing back-to-back five-set victories over UC Santa Barbara and No. 12 UCLA at the Galen Center. The Trojans rallied from down two sets to one in Saturday's matchup with the Bruins before knotching the win behind a 25-22 fourth set and 15-11 fifth set performance.
Members of the USC squad were excited about their win over UCLA after dropping the only other meeting between the teams earlier in the season and are eager to continue on their path before playoffs begin. The game was the Trojans ninth match of the season that went into five sets, the most since 2009. USC will return to the hardwood Thursday as the team travels to Malibu, California to take on Pepperdine at 7:00 p.m.
