No. 8 USC Volleyball Survives Scare

The Trojans used five sets to finish off the No. 6 Cougars in the MPSF quarterfinals.

The No. 8 USC men's volleyball team (19-8, 15-7) advanced to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation semi-final after pulling out a five-set victory over visiting No. 6 BYU Saturday night. The Trojans sealed the sudden-death win on a clinching kill by junior outside hitter Alex Slaught and freshman outside hitter Larry Tuileta spoke after the game about the team's solid overall performance and ability to fight down the stretch.

USC will now head to the MPSF final four at the University of California, Irvine to battle the top-seeded Anteaters for the third time this season. The two teams have split the earlier matches with both teams winning on the road in 3-2 fashion. The conference foes will take the court Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
