Media Center Names New Editors
As the Julie Chen/Leslie Moonves and CBS Media Center prepares for its landmark third semester in operation, students Gigi Gastevich '17 and Alexa Liacko '15 have been tapped to lead the mammoth student-run publication.
Gastevich and Liacko assumed their roles as co-editors-in-chief in May 2015.
Liacko was most recently executive producer of Annenberg TV News, one of the Media Center's broadcasts. She has also held several internships at the ABC O&O in L.A. and KHON-TV in Honolulu, Hawaii.
For her part, Gastevich has held several positions with Neon Tommy, the Media Center's award-winning online digital news outlet. Most recently, Gastevich was the Arts and Entertainment beat chief, where she was part of the team responsible for unifying coverage efforts across all of the Media Center's properties. Before that, she was the senior Arts and Culture editor for Neon Tommy.
Prior to this year, the Media Center was lead by Ani Ucar news director, working closely with Annenberg Radio News and Annenberg TV News' executive producers, and Neon Tommy's editor-in-chief. This appointment marks the first time the Media Center is run as one operation.
Gastevich says she hopes to create "one big publication that will become the voice of USC."
Liacko says one of her main goals is to "shape the Media Center into a digital-first publication."
Overall, both editors agree that the Media Center will continue to serve as a space for students to do what they're passionate about.
Gastevich and Liacko will be joined by a team of other student leaders branching across all platforms.
