Sports SCene: Clay Helton is Hired; USC Football Fights for Pac-12

In Sports SCene's final episode of the season, the team evaluates Clay Helton's hiring and gives the top plays of the semester.

The semester may be coming to an end, but around here, that just means there’s more USC Sports news than ever to tackle. In our final episode of the season, hosts Connor McGlynn and Jackson Safon have your breaking news as USC has officially made Clay Helton their permanent head coach.

Alongside some student reaction on the hiring, Jackson and Connor tell you all you need to know about Helton’s contract and his past experience as a coach.

We have some student reaction, but how did former USC players feel about the hire? Ben Albert has your weekly social media roundup where Trojans of the past took to Twitter to voice their support of Helton.

For a deeper discussion on whether this was the right move for USC, the hosts are joined buy Paolo Uggetti and Keely Eure in a roundtable to talk about what this hire means for the program and whether it was the right time to get rid of Helton’s interim title.

With the coaching situation now settled, USC turns to the Pac-12 Championship this weekend where they will try to avenge their early loss to Stanford. For a look at the history of the short-lived  Pac-12 Championship, we have all you need to know.

From the history to the matchup, Paolo Uggetti joins Connor McGlynn to talk about some of the keys to this championship matchup and what USC needs to do to win. Oh and yes, we have one more final prediction for the season.

On to other USC sports, Jackson is joined by Jodee Sullivan and Cooper Perkins for a discussion on the women’s volleyball team currently in the NCAA tournament. The Women of Troy are the top-ranked team in the nation, but how far can they really go?

This week’s Lighting of the Torch is brought to you by Alexa Palermo who has your preview on the sports that will take place in the spring. From track & field, to lacrosse, to tennis and beach volleyball, we have all you need to know to get ready for next season.

As the fall sports season winds down, what better way to recap it all than with a countdown of the Top 10 plays of the year. Football, volleyball, soccer you name it, the Trojans were making highlight-worthy plays all semester long.

To cap it all off, and for your comedic relief, we go back and expose our most vulnerable moments in this season's Sport SCene’s blooper reel. Here are our most awkward, exciting and funniest moments of the year. Enjoy.

Thank you all for watching, and see you next year!
