Serena Cha

Annenberg Media Center Executive Director/Former Founding Director of ATVN
Class of 1998


Serena Cha is the Executive Director of the new Annenberg Media Center opening in Wallis Annenberg Hall in Fall 2014. She served as the Founding Director of Annenberg TV News from 1998 through February 2014.

As Executive Producer at KCAL-TV, she supervised a large team of journalists producing daily newscasts and breaking news. Before that, she worked as Senior Producer at KCBS-TV and as a producer at KNBC-TV and KTTV-TV in Los Angeles. At WJZ-TV in Baltimore, she produced consumer reports and the highest-rated local newscast in the country.

Cha earned a Golden Mike, Associated Press award for best newscast in California and a USC Mellon Mentoring Award. She has a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Michigan.

She has helped many hardworking ATVN students land jobs at local and network media organizations all over the world.
