Meet the Signees: Michael Hutchings

Outside Linebacker. De La Salle High School. Concord, CA

A California native, Hutchings will join the Class of 2013 coming from the legendary De La Salle High School in Concord. What Hutchings lacks in mass for a typical Linebacker, weighing in at just over 200 pounds, he makes up for with his explosive power and unbridled quickness. Hutchings’ intelligence on the field compliments his physical prowess and allows him to excel at reading and anticipating his competitor’s next move.

He is ranked as the No. 6 linebacker in the nation by rivals.com, and completed his stellar high school career by capturing his third consecutive state title in the California State Championship against undefeated Folsom High School.  His outstanding performance at both the 2013 US Army All American Bowl and “The Opening,” an invite only summer Nike training camp, caused him to receive offers from the likes of UCLA, Oregon and Notre Dame. However, the unmatched team environment and first class facilities at USC led Hutchings to enthusiastically decide to become a Trojan and never look back.
