Newly Renovated Heritage Hall Opens to the Public

The home to USC's athletic department is officially opened to the public after undergoing a $35-million renovation this past year.

USC's Heritage Hall has been updated to feature technological appliances as well as modern displays. The building provides state of the art facilities, while still honoring the university's rich past.

The home to USC's athletic department is officially opened to the public after undergoing a $35-million renovation this past year.

The hall of champions in the entryway showcases some of USC's most impressive accolades, including athletic awards and trophies. The hall also features a prominent statue of the infamous USC drum major, which signifies the connection between the Trojan Marching Band and the athletic department.

The USC Drum major represents the "spirit and history" of USC, and is a "big part of the tradition", according to USC senior associate athletic director Mark Jackson.

Heritage Hall's main lobby features an open display of Heisman Trophies, and is the only place in the world where you can physically touch a Heisman.

Although the outside of the building remains the same, the interior of Heritage Hall has nearly doubled in size since it first opened in 1971. Heritage Hall is now 80,000 square feet and its two-story lobby has now been transformed into a museum space featuring interactive displays and lounges.

The building's new additions include women's golf, rowing, and soccer locker rooms where each locker is equipped with an iPad. The renovations have also created an equal space for women student athletes, and now features a women's lounge open to all USC female athletes. The lounge is the first of its kind in the country for its spa-like atmosphere.

In addition to administrative offices for USC athletics, Heritage Hall includes a sports performance center, a broadcast studio, an indoor golf driving area and a rowing ergometer room.

New locker rooms, meeting rooms, equipment rooms and event space have also been created. The lower-level features wash rooms, and a Trojan walk featuring the top athletes from each sport at USC.

Heritage Hall also features an underground tunnel connecting the building to the John McKay Center.

USC hosted a grand re-opening gala on Saturday featuring a reunion of USC's Athletic Hall of Fame members. Heritage Hall will be open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.,  10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays and closed on Sundays.
