UPDATED: Lindsay Lohan pleaded not guilty to felony theft charge
Lindsay Lohan was charged with a felony count of grand theft Wednesday for allegedly stealing a necklace from a Venice jewelry store. Superior Judge Keith Schwartz set Lohan's bail at $40,000- $20,000 for the felony theft charge and $20,000 for violating the terms of her probation in a 2007 DUI case.
Lindsay Lohan entered the LAX area courthouse on Wednesday at about 1:30pm, wearing a white dress, pearl earrings and large sunglasses. Whether she was going for the innocent look or not didn't seem to sway the judge.
"Look around this room," Schwartz told Lohan. "Everybody else has to follow the law. You're no different than anyone else. So please, don't push your luck."
The necklace, valued at $2,500, was last seen around Lohan's neck on Jan. 22, 2011.
The store Kamofie & Co. located on Abbot Kinney Blvd., reported the alleged theft to the Los Angeles Police Department. The LAPD obtained a warrant to search Lohan's residence but the property was turned into the police before the search warrant was served.
At least one person came to Lindsay's side, or Twitter to be more specific, today - Celebrity Rehab establisher Dr. Drew Pinsky. About an hour after Lohan stepped out of court, the actress read and responded to this concerned-sounding tweet from Pinsky:
"I am mortified how @Lindsaylohan is getting attacked when she is so fragile and just establishing her sobriety. Not at all what she need.'
Lohan replied, "@drdrew thank you for your support.. I appreciate it."
Lohan's legal woes date back to May and July of 2007 when she was arrested on DUI charges. Lohan spent 13 days in jail during the summer of 2010 for violating her probation regarding the DUI case.
