USG Candidate Profile: Jared and Sam
USG candidates Jared Ginsburg and Sam Coxe talked to ATVN about their extensive student government experience and whether it will give them a leg-up in the election.
The two were not going to let the fifty percent chance of rain stop them from some last minute campaigning Monday. The junior/sophomore duo is hoping their long-time USG experience will give them the edge on election day.
"Sam and I have both been involved with student governement since our first semesters of our freshman year," Ginsburg said. "We have had an amazing time and an amazing experience here at USC and we can't think of a better way to give back to the students by improving the all over undergraduate experience through student government."
"We love our Trojan experience and we just want to improve it as much as we can for future generations of Trojans," Coxe said.
Jared and Sam are running on a platform that includes a three to five day fall break, upgrades to the Lyon Center, a campus-wide textbook exchange, increasing Doheny Library hours and expanding and improving the food choices on campus.
"We want to increase the options of healthy vegan and vegetarian options that are available on campus," Ginsburg said. "But, more importantly we want to increase the quality of the food available."
Voting begins tonight at midnight and will run until 8 p.m. Thursday. Jared and Sam are hoping to further showcase their unique position until the online polls close.
"One thing that really distinguishes our platform from the other tickets is that we have already taken the time to meet with USC Senior Administration," Ginsburg added. "We went line by line and took everything out that wasn't feasible and we kept everything that was 100 percent practical. So, students know when they are reading our platform is that these are not empty promises."
Students can cast their votes at elections.usc.edu.
