Career Fair Builds Bridges to Construction Opportunities
The "Construction and Associated Careers Awareness" Fair on Thursday exposed students to careers in infrastructure.

About three thousand high school and community college students attended.
Students were introduced to plumbing, carpentry, welding, and other trades. They learned to build bridges, climb poles, and back hoe.
But this career fair would not exist without the inspiring professionals who believe in education.
Pastor Stephen McGlover of Freewill Missionary Baptist Church said, "There are so many facets in the construction area that many of us aren't familiar with. It's not all hammer and nails. It has engineering. You have architecture. You have accounting. You have legal issues that must be dealt with."
L.A. Councilwoman Jan Perry commented, "I've watched and participated in this event since its inception. And it has grown enormously."
Fair sponsors showcased careers and internship opportunities, and City Council members contributed their support.
A representative for CalTrans said, "This is an unprecedented time to get involved in infrastructure improvements."
