Maurice Jones to Transfer

The Trojans leading scorer from last year is academically ineligible and leaving the school.

USC basketball point guard Maurice Jones, who is academically ineligible for the 2012-13 season, intends to transfer from the school.

Jones, the Trojans leading scorer last season, tweeted Wednesday morning that "In a few hours I will be on my way home... I will be looking to transfer from USC."

Head coach Kevin O'Neill confirmed Jones' intent to transfer to espnla.com on Wednesday.

When Jones' ineligibility was first announced, O'Neill said in a statement, "I support (Jones) 100 percent in all that he does."

The would-be junior was the Trojans lone bright spot in a dismal six-win season last year, and was expected to play a key role as sixth man on a much-improved Trojan squad this season.

Jones further lamented on twitter that "I finally got comfortable and now it's time 2 (sic) start all over where ever that may be."
