'Sons of Anarchy' Actor Identified in Los Feliz Homicide
Johnny Lewis, the actor who played Kip "Half Sack" Epps on the cable TV show "Sons of Anarchy," fell to his death Wednesday after apparently beating his elderly landlady to death, authorities said Thursday.
A Los Angeles coroner's official released the names of an 81-year-old woman who was killed Wednesday and the 28-year-old actor who is suspected of attacking her.
LAPD officers arrived at the home in the 3600 block of Lowry Road at 10:40 a.m. Wednesday in response to a call about a screaming woman and three men fighting, according to officials.
The woman, identified as Catherine Davis, had been renting rooms to boarders and was found dead inside, said Lt. Larry Dietz of the Los Angeles County coroner's office.
According to Smith, Davis suffered major trauma but her exact cause of death was not immediately determined.
The body of the suspected killer, who may have rented a room from the woman, was found about six feet from a wall, said Sgt. Frank Preciado.
Smith told reporters, "It appears that some type of altercation occurred inside the house resulting in the death of the woman.''
Preciado said Lewis then climbed a wall and fought with a house painter at a neighboring home, returned to the woman's home and climbed the wall again to fight with the painter and the owner of the second house.
The man apparently fell while trying to scale the wall again, Preciado said.
The men who fought with him were treated at the scene for minor injuries, he said.
The show's creator Kurt Sutter tweeted about Lewis' death saying, "The sad irony of it happening two days after opie's death is not lost on me. it was a tragic end for an extremely talented guy, who unfortunately had lost his way. i wish i could say that i was shocked by the events last night, but i was not. i am deeply sorry that an innocent life had to be thrown into his destructive path. yes, it's day or mourning, but it's also a day of awareness and gratitude. sadly, some of us carry the message by dying."
The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Wait, the show's creator "isn't shocked" that his actor beat his landlady to death and fell from a wall? Seriously? I know he's not like a cop or a therapist, but don't you have to... tell somebody if you think someone close to you is capable of that sort of behavior?
