Red Flag Warning Issued For LA
A red flag warning was issued Thursday for Los Angeles due to gusty northeast winds and low humidities across Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
The alert was put into effect until Friday for downtown since the dry weather conditions raise the risk of fire in lower elevation areas.

Winds which have been blowing north shifted northeast Thursday, creating the first widespread Santa Ana event of the season.
The peak in wind strength was predicted in the alert to begin Friday, with winds reaching up to 45 miles per hour.
Humidity was predicted in the alert to dip between 15 to 25 percent early Friday morning, and then even lower to 5 or 10 percent in the afternoon.
Effects of the high winds were evident across the region Thursday morning. About 1,500 Los Angeles Department of Water and Power customers in the Fairfax District were temporarily without power and about 1,000 in the Beverly Crest area were also without power due to wind conditions, according to the utility's Jane Galbraith.
