Undocumented Immigrants Rally Against All Deportations
Nearly 200 people rallied in downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday urging President Obama to stop all deportations.
Many of the people gathered were undocumented immigrants and held signs reading, "Without documentation. Without fear."
They were protesting the more than two million deportations that have happened during President Obama's terms in office.
"We're here to call on Obama to put an end to all deportations immediately because he has the power," said rally organizer Pablo Barrios. "All workers matter, no matter what their immigration status is."
President Obama had ordered a review of deportation practices, but ralliers said that wasn't enough.
"When people think about 11 milion undocumented people in this country, that's 11 million people that have families," said campaign coordinator Neidi Dominguez. "When you take a parent out of the picture, that affects the life of that child forever."
Those gathered at the rally plan to join more than fifty other cities across the country on April 5 in a national day against deportations.
